About Us

Bipolar Dream was founded in March 2003 from an idea we had in February same year. We belonged to another site which didn't train volunteers enough to deal with everyday volunteer bipolar challenges for this kind of service (as, for example, actively suicidal people).

This site is all about a Dream, a Dream of Friendship among we Elves (=founders) and of support among we Volunteers.

We want to spread awareness of the illness, get educated about it and its aspects (suicidal ideation, meds, concurrent illnesses, special sub-group coping issues, etc), offer support to beepeers and get trained and certified over our field of interests.

In order to do so, we actively cooperate with some associations of the field, such as the International Society for Bipolar Disorder.

We do not accept EVERYONE that asks us to volunteer, because we need to screen and trust each volunteer, since we are not going to oppress people with our authority and/or ego trips. We also are willing to delegate, so to let you have a wide decisional capability together with all the responsibility and recognition that your role implies.
