Why Volunteer at Bipolar Dream?

Too often we people with mental illness are treated as if it is impossible

When deciding whether to volunteer for an organization or not, you always have to weight the pros and cons. So please see if what we require is what you want to give and what we give is what you want to get.

From volunteering at Bipolar Dream, you get:

  • more education and awareness of the illness
  • improved self-esteem
  • certified training on your field(s) of interest
  • flexibility of assignments, in kinds and times
  • tactful direct supervision
  • straight and upfront feedback
  • assistance in facing yourself through self-help
  • support in your endeavours
  • job skills

    Why?
Because a mentally ill person is not a retarded or an irresponsible one. Because a mentally ill person still has everyday tasks to accomplish and dreams to realize. Because a mentally ill person didn't give up growing. Because a mentally ill person cares. And finally because volunteering at Dream could be an important step in your rehabilitation toward a "normal" life.

From a volunteer at Bipolar Dream, we ask to:

  • be in agreement with our concept of volunteering
  • be in agreement with our mission statement
  • be comfortable with our code of ethics and abide by it
  • comply with policy and guidelines that will be given when starting probationary period
  • improve your education and awareness of the illness
  • accomplish accepted assignments
  • take certified training
  • give constructive feedback

    Why?
Because a few clear agreed upon rules are mandatory in order to safely discuss our disagreement without attacking each other and yet growing in the process. Because we delegate responsibility, accountability and power. Because it takes the same rules for all of us to realize this dream.
